Building A Support System
As children go back to public or private school, parks & libraries will stop being crowded. Right now is the perfect time to join your local homeschool group and see what activities will be starting soon. Where I live there is a meet & greet for homeschoolers, a bowling league starting, and many more activities starting to be scheduled. HSLDA.org has a page for state groups which can help lead you to smaller local groups. https://hslda.org/post/state-homeschool-organizations can help you build a support system within your homeschool community. There are also many homeschool groups on Facebook and we personally use our two local homeschool groups to find connections. I’ve met many great families this way. How do you build community? Are you part of any homeschool groups?

Saving Money With Masterbooks
Homeschool Curriculum can add up fast and become expensive. I am always looking for ways to save when I have multiple children who are homeschooled. We use Masterbooks curriculum when my kids are in preschool since we enjoy their books. Masterbooks has a clearance section on their website that changes frequently. If you go to https://www.masterbooks.com/specials and check it every so often, you can pick up brand new scratch & dent copies for a fraction of the price. I have picked up books cheaper than a Facebook BST page. Have you ever bought scratch and dent to save money?

Reading 20 Minutes A Day
With many children going back to school, I see many parents requiring their children to read 20 minutes a day. I find reading important and more exposure can create a better reader. We personally do not require mandated reading time and instead we encourage it. The reason we encourage it instead is because I do not want my children to feel forced to read. We do a ton of reading and read alouds in our homeschool day. Here is why I love read alouds instead of mandated reading. Do you read aloud in your homeschool? Do you require reading in your household?

Breastfeeding Can Be Hard Even As A LC
I am an LC which means I am a Lactation Counselor. To receive my certification I have had to help many woman and families with their breastfeeding struggles. That doesn’t mean I am perfect. I have been breastfeeding my daughter for 2.5 years and we’ve really struggled with weaning. Weaning during the day was easy and she stopped asking after a few days. Night weaning has taken months. At first she was reducing her night feeds, but started waking up every hour to use me as a human pacifier. Instead of slowly weaning, we’ve resorted to telling her no 100%. It’s been full of tears and choppy sleep. I am telling you this because even as a professional, we struggle with the same issues you may be having. Breastfeeding should be a joy and not mentally draining. I started feeling touched out because I was always needed and breastfeeding became painful in the past few months. This is why I chose to wean my daughter even though she would of happily stayed night nursing until she was a lot older. I am hoping that this helps you feel less alone. If you have any night weaning tips, comment below.
